Avignon: Golden hour today at 6:14 PM (local time)

Looking for a wedding photographer in Avignon?

Take a breath. Avignon is ready for your wedding.

You chose Avignon for a reason. Maybe the Palais des Papes, the golden-stone alleyways, a domaine in the Vaucluse with the Alpilles on the horizon. Maybe just that light — so particular at dusk in Provence.

But when it comes to the wedding photos, it gets complicated. Too many sites look the same, too many poses that ring hollow. You want photography that matches the place — and the emotion.

You want a photographer who stays out of the way, who captures what is actually lived rather than what is staged.

What you want for your Avignon wedding

Images where you recognise yourselves. A fluid, almost invisible presence. An eye able to catch the Provence light, sudden bursts of laughter, hands reaching for each other, a quiet gesture between the ceremony and the cocktail hour. Real memories, made beautiful without ever being distorted.

Why is it so hard to choose the right photographer?

Because you want the real thing, not forced poses

You don’t want to perform in front of a lens. No mechanical smiles, no improvised photo booth in the middle of your cocktail hour. You don’t want to spend your day posing when you have a wedding to live, people to catch up with, moments to let unfold.

The real challenge isn’t finding a professional photographer. It’s finding someone who respects the way you are, who works by watching rather than directing, who understands that wedding photography only means something when it tells an authentic story.

A successful reportage in Avignon means knowing how to work with that Mediterranean light, those history-laden backdrops — without turning your day into a film set. It’s you, in your day, as it actually was.

Thibault Maestracci - Wedding photographer Avignon

I’m Thibault, wedding photographer in Avignon and across the South.

What draws me to a wedding isn’t the poses or the staging. It’s what you experience when you forget the camera is there.

I work in documentary mode, with a genuine editorial sensibility. I start from what’s real: the Provence light crossing a room, a burst of laughter, a held breath before a big moment, a detail no one else will notice until you do, ten years from now.

My job is to catch what exists, then compose with precision so that each image carries weight. Minimal direction — only when a word or gesture will make a scene. Never more than that. What remains in the photos is you, true to who you are.

What I offer for your Avignon wedding

Full coverage, from morning to midnight

I cover your day in full: getting ready, ceremony, couple moments, your family’s emotions, your friends’ laughter, the details that tell your story. Every image is chosen with care to build a reportage that is coherent, human and elegant.

  • Natural, authentic images taken in the moment.
  • A discreet presence throughout your day.
  • Memories that tell your story with honesty.
  • Particular attention to the Provence light.
  • A reportage made to last.

Simple, human and fluid from start to finish

We talk before your wedding. I want to understand what you want, what makes you comfortable, what you expect from this experience. That connection changes everything: on the day itself, you no longer need to think about photos. You live your event, I take care of the rest.

Couple sessions or day-after around Avignon

If you want to extend the experience, we can meet in the backstreets of Avignon, the Alpilles, the Luberon, L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, or the Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyards. A couple session at the end of the day, golden light, just the two of you. No stiff poses. A simple, alive, sincere moment.

FAQ — Wedding photographer Avignon

Do you travel to the Vaucluse to photograph weddings?

Yes, I travel throughout the Vaucluse as well as nearby departments: the Gard, the Hérault and the Bouches-du-Rhône. And beyond if your project calls me elsewhere.

How much does a wedding photographer in Avignon cost?

The price depends on the number of hours covered, the services included and the complexity of the day. Every wedding is different, and I’d rather talk directly to build something that truly fits your project.

Where to take couple photos in Avignon on your wedding day?

The Palais des Papes, the Pont Saint-Bénézet, the Rocher des Doms gardens — Avignon has settings that lend themselves beautifully to a private escape during the day. Subject to access and opening hours. If you’re getting married at a nearby venue, we can also work on location. The late afternoon light in the Vaucluse vineyards and garrigue often produces something remarkable.

What is a day-after session?

A day-after session is a photo shoot taken a few days or weeks after the wedding, usually in your wedding attire, in a location you choose together. No pressure, more time, different light. We can explore Avignon from a new angle, head into the Alpilles, follow the Rhône, or find somewhere that feels like you. These images often have something more intimate and unhurried than the wedding day itself.

Do you know any wedding venues near Avignon?

A few addresses worth knowing: Domaine Arbaud in Redessan (Gard), Château Saint-Laurent in Morières-lès-Avignon (Vaucluse), Château de Beauregard in Jonquières (Vaucluse). Very different from one another. The best venue is the one that looks like you.

What if it rains on our wedding day in Avignon?

Rain changes the mood, it doesn’t ruin it. It often creates very powerful photographic conditions: diffused light, reflections, an intimacy that settles in differently. I always adapt to what the day brings.

Do you speak English?

Yes, with a charming French accent. Whether your families speak different languages or you’re an international couple who fell in love with Avignon, we’ll find our way together just fine.

How many photos will we receive?

Quality matters more than quantity, but to give you an idea: between 400 and 700 photos depending on the length and energy of the day. All carefully selected, edited, and delivered in high definition via a private online gallery.

Do you deliver photo books?

Yes. High-end, durable books with an elegant finish. A way to give physical form to what you lived through — something you can hold in your hands, and pass on.

Weddings in the South of France, around Avignon

Based in Occitanie, I photograph weddings across the South of France.

Many of the couples I work with choose to get married close to Avignon, in places that truly feel like them. That’s why I regularly work around Nîmes, the Roman neighbour with its timeless backdrops, and further west towards Toulouse when a couple and a venue call me to that side of Occitanie.

I also cover more intimate venues around Avignon: L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Gordes, the Alpilles, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Uzès and the Luberon vineyards. Places chosen for a specific reason, a family estate, a personal story, a desire for simplicity. The venue matters, of course, but what interests me most is what happens there.

Let’s talk about your Avignon wedding

Every wedding is different. The simplest thing is to talk it through.
Tell me where you’re getting married, what matters to you, and let’s see if my approach fits your story.
